“Toledo is not interested in the subject matter, but in the medium of graphics or painting itself. The animals and objects represented there escape a realm between the denotative and the connotative, that is, he is neither content with describing them nor is he concerned with interpreting them. There is only a sample, an exemplification of what he observes and finds relevant. It is Toledo"s private universe that we peer into. The object is always in sight and centered. Whether the subject looks at us or we only witness the dialogue or exchange between those involved.” Carlos A. Molina.
